Strolling along the tree-lined drive of Osterley House, past grazing Charolais cattle, it’s easy to forget where you are. Once described by Horace Walpole as ‘the palace of palaces’, Osterley is one of the last surviving country estates in London.

Osterley was created in the late 18th century for the Child family to entertain and impress their friends and clients. Now it’s time for you to be entertained and impressed too.

Chef Ellen Parr will put food from Martin’s photography directly onto dinner plates, recreating a five-course meal like for like. But while the dishes’ appearance will remain faithful to Martin’s work, looks may deceive as Ellen playfully inverts sweet and savoury and explores flavours and spices from all around the world…

Set designer Alice Hodge will transform a former library in Hoxton into a resplendent and fully immersive world of Martin Parr – kitsch, humourous and quintessentially British. The venue will be split into the dining room and ‘The Lipman Members Bar’, a fully stocked bar serving retro-classic cocktails as seen in Martin’s photography and complete with chintzy carpet, sofas, a retro television, a tombola, games and more.

Inspired by the history of the house, chef Ellen Parr will design a five-course menu inspired by eighteenth century recipes and full of twists and surprises. Be transported around the historical world of food trade and exchange with an exciting menu that plays with rich and exotic flavours teamed with the traditional food of the sea merchant.

Expect salted meats, limes for scurvy, ship’s biscuits, smuggled envelopes of parmesan, nutmeg, spices and much more.

Continuing the Art of Dining’s ethos to wholly transport guests into another world, Trade Secrets will incorporate bespoke design to create an immersive dining experience. Think old maps with routes planned out, glowing lamps, wooden tables, messages in bottles. Smuggled silk will adorn hidden corners in different rooms in the house, holding surprises to stumble upon between courses. Guests will be invited to enter the world of secret imports by unwrapping smuggled goods and following instructions attached to vessels and packages.
