  • Fire & Feast

    Fire & Feast

The Art of Dining and The London Dungeon are delighted to present Fire & Feast. Diners will journey through The Great Fire of London presented as a five course pop-up dining experience, combining food, theatre, music and design in the atmospheric setting of the London Dungeon.

London. 1666. The capital is a disaster waiting to happen; timber houses packed cheek-by-jowl, just waiting for a spark to set the whole city ablaze. At the Dungeon Tavern, a feast is being held in honour of Sir Thomas Bludworth, the Lord Mayor of London. The evening is beset by rumours and worry about a fire that started the previous night and is said to be spreading to all areas of the city. Bludworth’s staff, at his behest, are trying to keep a lid on the creeping panic, but as the evening unfolds it becomes clear that this could be the guests’ last meal and they may not make it out alive…

Guests will get an exclusive taste of the London Dungeon’s new ‘Escape The Great Fire’ show as well as sampling some special gallows humour courtesy of the London Dungeon’s Jester and the Plague Surgery, which is dealing with a nasty case of the Great Plague.

They will then make their way to the Dungeon Tavern where they will be greeted by a welcome cocktail and seated for the feast. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience The Great Fire of London from the inside whilst enjoying The Art of Dining’s signature combination of delicious food and immersive ambience.

The menu includes five delicious courses all themed around ‘fire’ elements such as ‘Smoke’ and ‘Ash’. Guests can start the meal with one of the signature cocktails such as Farriner’s Flame, before tucking in to dishes such as Sichuan style beef ribs in fire sauce and burnt butter cake served with burnt white chocolate and stewed gooseberries.

  • The 80’s Office Party

    The 80’s Office Party

Back by extremely popular demand, The Art of Dining are inviting guests to their 80s-themed pop-up experience combining food, music, theatre and set design, all inspired by the classic office party. Step back in time to boardroom heaven: big hair, big ambition and even bigger shoulder pads.

Amanda Bellingham, female powerhouse and boss of The Pickle Company Ltd, will be taking the night off from monitoring pickle production and hosting the annual celebration of the company’s birthday with you, her loyal staff members, as her guests. Having fun and joining in is mandatory, so expect team-building games, office-based antics and perhaps even a round of Pictionary on the overhead projector, with pay rises and promotions on offer for the most dedicated members of staff. Once dinner has been eaten, and Amanda is satisfied with your appraisals, you may even get a slow dance with the boss.

The 80s Office Party will see set designer Alice Hodge take you back to the decade of geometric artwork and corporate colours, transforming The Rose Lipman Building into a classic office environment of overhead projectors and pinboards, filing cabinets and pot plants, complete with a refreshing lack of computers and the all important, and much abused, photocopier.

Guests will be invited to grab a glass of punch from the water cooler and get ready to enjoy Moro-trained chef Ellen Parr’s five courses of office inspired food, presented with a contemporary twist that will take guests from the morning black coffee to the afternoon biscuits.

In deepest, darkest Hackney there lies an enchanted forest, a mystical world of twisted fairy tales and fantastical stories. At the heart of the forest awaits a feast for wandering travellers just like you, more delicious than a gingerbread house and more tempting than a prince’s kiss. To reach the feast you must run the gauntlet of strange characters and terrifying beasts, who will try to trick you with riddles and clues, and lure you to a sticky end. But there are also friends in the forest; amiable spirits who will teach you how to pitch a tent or find a tree house and help you survive a night at the mercy of the wicked woods. Will you eat the poisoned apple? Will you follow a trail of breadcrumbs back to safety? Write your own story throughout the course of the evening and decide how it ends – you are the author of your own fate.

The Art of Dining is delighted to present The Engine Room – a celebration of the Victorian age of steam and innovation, presented as a five course pop-up dining experience. The evening will combine carefully curated food, theatre, music and set design for a stunning sensory experience in the London Museum of Water and Steam.

Welcome to Victorian London: a polluted and crammed city, wrapped in swirling fog and lit by flickering gaslight, overwhelmed with people and their filth. Cholera haunts the water in the wells, making every drink a deadly game of chance. Never fear, for help is at hand in The Engine Room, a haven of gleaming machines and piston driven marvels that will save the city from its own excess- purifying your drink, if not your conscience.

Diners will be welcomed with a cocktail in the beam engine room, a cathedral commemoration of industry housing a pump engine so mind-boggling that Charles Dickens named it ‘a monster’. Inspired by the sheer size and beauty of engines within the walls of The London Museum of Steam and Water, set designer Alice Hodge will take you back 160 years to a time of bold and functional beauty.

Moro trained chef Ellen Parr is currently developing a range of dishes inspired by the industrial age, incorporating interactive elements and surprises that will elevate the dining experience to a full immersive event.

As the massive refugee crisis continues to unfold in Syria and beyond, it is hard to know how to help the hundreds of thousands of people who have lost everything. In response to this crisis, The Art of Dining are joining forces with The Mill Co Project and Action Against Hunger to bring you a fundraising dinner.

The generosity of staff, suppliers and the venue means that the Candlelit Supper will be produced at minimal cost, and all profit will go towards Action Against Hunger’s work in Syria.

Moro-trained chef Ellen Parr will present food classics from the era, but with a twist. Her take on a prawn cocktail may look like it’s come straight from Fanny Craddock’s fridge, but will tingle the taste buds with its subtle, infused Thai flavours. Although the food may look retro, you can expect bold, zesty flavours and truly innovative cooking.

So, shake out that dralon dress with the plunging neckline, slap on the eyeliner, press those flares, unbutton your shirt to the navel, slip on the heels and head to the Rose Lipman Centre (just a few minutes’ walk from Haggerston overground station) to be transported back to the 70s. As you thrill to the soaring tenor of Demis Roussos (RIP), you will experience some excruciating hosting and plenty of awkward moments, while a good, strong gin and tonic will get you in the mood.
